I would just like to take a moment to remind everyone that Japan is in very great need of aid right now. Unfortunately, fundraising efforts so far have not been as fast as those for other recent natural disasters. Here are some ways you can help, even if you don't have any money to spare:
★
CNN lists several reputable organizations you can donate to.
★
Doctors Without Borders is also accepting donations.
★
Japanese Red Cross - google allows you to donate directly
★ If you are in the US: Text REDCROSS to 90999 or JAPAN to 20222 (For Save the Children) to make a $10 donation to either organization that will be added to your phone bill. HOWEVER - "If you donate via text message, your donations may take up to 90 days to reach aid organizations that need the money as soon as possible. Even though they're getting large amounts of free media attention for their text-to-donate programs, companies like AT&T and Verizon have chosen not to release the donation money right away." (- change.org You can sign their petition
here to stop the delay.)
★
iTunes - You can donate to the Red Cross via iTunes too!
★
Help Japan - fandom charity auctions. This applies to any fandom at all, not just Arashi! Auction off something you have or your own services for charity.
★
Arashi-on's fundraiser - also a fandom charity auction, but specific to Arashi.
★
The Japanese Association of Translators is accepting volunteer interperters. You don't even have to be in Japan! If you can speak Japanese and any other language, you're of help!
★
In Japan? - Check out this video on how to donate to the JP Red Cross at your local Family Mart.
★
Second Harvest Japan - Although donations of items rather than money are generally discouraged (they are hard to manage, slow to distribute, and often wasted), this is one good organization accepting food and supplies.
★
List for Brazialian fans of banks accepting donations.
★
Poupee Girl Charity Items - if you play this game, you can buy these items for charity.
★
Lady Gaga is selling a charity "We pray for Japan" bracelet. You can make an additional donation with your purchase.
★
KARA's Jet Coaster Love - all profits go to disaster relief
★
T-shirts by Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda - all profits go to disaster relief
★
SHOW YOUR HEART - Charity set up by Gackt, you can donate if you're in Japan.
